The Dwarkadheesh Temple, also known as Dwarkadhish Mandir, is one of the most important and revered temples in Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna. Located near Vishram Ghat on the banks of the Yamuna River, this temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna, worshipped here in the form of Dwarkanath or Dwarkadheesh, meaning the “King of Dwarka”.
Built in 1814 by Seth Gokul Das Parikh, a devotee and treasurer of the Gwalior royal family, the temple is renowned for its intricate Rajasthani-style architecture, elaborately carved pillars, painted ceilings, and black marble deity of Lord Krishna along with his consort Radha.
Thousands of devotees and tourists visit daily, especially during festivals like Janmashtami, Holi, Diwali, and Jhulan Yatra, when the temple comes alive with bhajans, flower decorations, and devotional fervor.
